In the article an attempt was made to systematize and to partially analyze non-
traditional methods of studying foreign languages. Particularly is considered a method of

communicative studying at the lessons of foreign languages in higher educational establishments of
non-philological (technical) character. The examples of such lessons are given as well as the main
preconditions of their conducting. The main principles of communicative study are investigated,
which are capable of mobilizing the studying process. The methods and forms of studying are
investigated, which affect the formation and development of students’ lexical competence in the
process of a foreign language learning. Special literature and methodical recommendation, concerning problems of use non-
traditional methods of studying foreign languages have been studied and analyzed.

The article treats and systematizes a number of modern methods of teaching, methodical
recommendations to implement a number of new non-traditional methods of teaching, as well as
classical (traditional) interactive methods, which make the process of studying interesting.
So, we make conclusion that the communicative method of teaching foreign languages in
non-philological higher educational establishments includes not only studying a foreign language,
taking into account the student’s future profession, but also a comprehensive development of
students’ level of education, their ability to maintain an intercultural communication. Studying a
foreign language promotes the development of a student, (his/her) self-educational potential,
satisfying his or her personal interests. We have considered in the article one of the methods of
modern study of foreign language, which, to our minds is efficient and provides for a high level of a
foreign languages learning by students in non-philological higher educational establishments. In
our future work we are planning to investigate and generalize other methods of learning foreign
languages, which encourage better mastering and up-grading the students’ level of knowledge,
while studying a foreign language.

Muravska, Svitlana
New requirements to training future aviation specialists presuppose a good
command of English. The practice shows that good knowledge of radiotelephony is sufficient in
95% of cases, but in emergency situations a pilot’s good speaking skills can save not only his life,
but also the lives of the passengers.
Old methods of teaching English, such as learning a text by heart or learning new vocabulary
units for a dictation are not effective any longer. A focus is made now on developing communicative
skills and language competency in general. To achieve this, interactive methods are applied.
Interactive learning can be defined as learning focused on communication. For increasing
efficiency of a learning process three components of communication should be present. They are the
following: communicative (transfer and saving of verbal and non-verbal information), interactive
(organization of interaction in common activity), perceptive (people’s perception and
understanding of each other).
In the system of interactive learning the main principles of the methodology of cooperation
can be distinguished: 1) positive interdependence – a group achieves positive results in case every
student does well; 2) individual responsibility – working in a group every student performs his task
different from tasks of other students; 3) equal participation – each student gets the same time for completing his/her task; 4) simultaneous cooperation – when all the students are involved in work
at the same time.
Our practical experience shows that such interactive methods of teaching English to future
aviation specialists as discussions, role-plays, brainstorming and work with "Air Crash
Investigations" Documentary TV Series are extremely effective. They increase their cognitive
activity, develop critical thinking skills, interest and motivation to learn English, contribute to
cadets’ personality development and language competency. The examples of mentioned above
interactive methods have been presented in the article.

Authors: Zelenska, Liliia; Tymchenko, Svitlana;
Abstract: The purpose of this study is to disclose the main aviation documents related to the language
training system for aviation specialists. The language of profession is an integral part of aviation
specialists’ professional communication, and its proficiency is their main task. English has been
chosen as the international language of radiotelephony phraseology which is developed to provide
efficient, clear, concise, and unambiguous communication, and constant attention should be given
to the correct use of ICAO phraseologies in all instances in which they are applicable.
Radiotelephony English, which includes but must not be limited to ICAO phraseology and can
require the use of "general" English, as a sub-category of aviation English, is the language used in
radiotelephony communications. The paper emphasizes the fact that adhering to ICAO documents,
Aviation English training and language skills acquisition are ultimately focused on a specific goal
of aviation safety. Thus the main objectives of aviation language training of flight crew members
and air traffic controllers are to involve aviation personnel into wide usage of language means
covering a wide range of topics related to aviation.
