This article examines the biographical trajectory and professional legacy of Jügderdemidiin Gurragchaa, the first Mongolian cosmonaut and a distinguished military pilot whose career epitomizes the nation's technological advancement. Born into a nomadic family and originally trained as an aviation equipment engineer in the Soviet Union, Gurragchaa's career progressed from a junior specialist to a military officer. His historic 1981 mission aboard Soyuz-39 under the Interkosmos program made Mongolia the tenth country in the world to reach outer space. The study highlights the collective effort of the Mongolian space group, including his backup Maidarjavyn Ganzorig and finalists Saintsog and Surenkhorloo, while detailing scientific contributions during the flight, specifically the "Biosphere-Mon" and "Erdem" experiments focused on geological and environmental monitoring of the Mongolian territory. The research further explores Gurragchaa’s subsequent political and military influence, including his roles as Major General and Minister of Defense, alongside the cultural impact of his achievement, notably the restoration of ancestral surnames in Mongolia where he adopted the name "Sansar" (Universe). Beyond historical retrospection, the article analyzes the current state of Mongolia’s space strategy within the "Vision 2050" framework. This includes the successful deployment of the "Mazaalai" and "Ondosat" nanosatellites, as well as strategic partnerships with SpaceX, NASA, and international aerospace corporations to develop a sovereign satellite communication system. The author concludes that Gurragchaa’s pioneering spirit remains the cornerstone of Mongolia’s modern "space economy," marking a transition from human exploration to comprehensive digital and satellite integration in the global arena.en_US
